    Oct. 23, 2012

NEWPORT BEACH, Ca. - Arizona State linebacker Brandon Magee has been named a quarterfinalist for the 2012 Lott IMPACT Trophy, it was announced today.

Magee, one of 20 quarterfinalists for the award, is second on the team with 49 tackles, including a team-high 34 solo, and has two interceptions, one of which he returned for his first career touchdown. He also has a forced fumble, fumble recovery and five tackles for loss, including 3.5 sacks. Magee is third in the Pac-12 in tackles per game with 8.2 and is one of only 12 players in the conference with multiple interceptions.

The Lott IMPACT Trophy is named after Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott and honors the student-athlete who has the biggest IMPACT on his team on and off the field. IMPACT is an acronym for Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community and Tenacity.

Semifinalists for the award will be announced Nov. 13 and four finalists Nov. 28. The four finalists will be invited to the Ninth Annual Lott IMPACT Trophy Awards Ceremony in Newport Beach Dec. 9.
