Men's Golf Comes Away With 10th-Place Finish At Amer Ari Invitational

    Feb. 8, 2013

The Arizona State men's golf team rounded out their tournament in Hawaii, taking 10th-place at the Amer Ari Invitational from Waikoloa Kings' Course in Waikoloa. For the second-straight tournament freshman Max Rottluff paced the Sun Devils.

After shooting a six-under par second round, the Sun Devils finished with a round of two-over par. It resulted in one-under par (291-282-290-863). UCLA and Washington tied for the tournament victory, both shooting 22-under par. In terms of the Sun Devils, it is a solid finish out of a 20-team tournament filled with many Top 25 teams.

For ASU, Max Rottluff once again shot a quality round, going three-under par on the day. He finished in eighth place at seven-under par (73-67-69-209). He began the day in 11th, and finished only four strokes back of individual champion Dominic Bozzelli from Auburn.

After being tied after the second round, Jon Rahm Rodriguez and Mathias Schjoelberg stayed knotted through the final 18, both finishing tied for 42nd at one-over par (70-73-74-217).

Another freshman, Alberto Sanchez, finished the last two rounds at one-over par resulting in a tie for 60th-place. He finished the tournament at four-over par (75-72-73-220). For Sanchez, it is another solid outing for another key piece of the squad moving forward.

The Sun Devils take a ten day break before heading to Palm Desert, Calif. for The Prestige, from Feb. 18-20.
