    2012 ASU Thunderbird Invitational Final Results Get Acrobat Reader

    The Sun Devil men's golf team finished sixth at the 40th annual Thunderbird Invitational held Friday-Saturday at the ASU Karsten Golf Course while freshman Austin Quick had an impressive outing.

    Quick finished second in the strong field with a 7-under 206 (66-67-73), as UNLV's Derek Ernst took home the individual title with a 9-under 204 (69-67-68).

    "Austin is really playing well and has put together a very good freshman season with some more tournaments to play," said ASU first-year coach Tim Mickelson. "We are really excited to see how he finishes the season and his future in Tempe."

    ASU shot 7-over 859 (286-282-291)

    California won the event on the strength of three golfers finishing in the top five, as Brandon Hagy (67-70-70) and Joel Stalter (68-71-68) tied for third at 6-under 207 and Pace Johnson tied for fifth at 5-under 208 (70-67-71). Cal finished at 17-under 835 (276-285-274), while San Diego State (282-275-286) and New Mexico (289-276-278) both finished at 9-under 843.
