Men's Golf Heads To Hawaii For Amer Ari Invitational

    Feb. 4, 2013

The Arizona State men's golf team will travel to the Walkoloa Beach Resort in Hawaii for the 23rd annual three-day Amer Ari Intercollegiate from Wednesday, Feb. 6 through Friday, Feb. 8 from Waikoloa's Kings' Course.

54 holes will be played over the course of three days, with shotgun starts every day at 7:30 a.m. (PT).

Five ASU golfers will head their way to the paradise links, including Jon Rahm Rodriguez, Max Rottluff, Alberto Sanchez, Spencer Lawson, and Mathias Schjoelberg.

The Sun Devils recently finished in fourth-place at the Arizona Intercollegiate last week, and had five finishers inside of the top-25. The freshman Rottluff led the charge for ASU, placing third. Co-freshman Rahm Rodriguez finished just outside the top-ten in 11th-place.

The Sun Devils have had success at this tournament in Hawaii in the past. In 2008, former ASU golfer Jesper Kennegard took home the individual championship, becoming the third Arizona State member to do this, the others being Chris Hanell in 1995 Todd Demsey in 1993. The Devils took home the team championship in 2004, also. Chris Hanell won the tournament in a playoff over Tiger Woods.

Playing alongside Arizona State will be the likes of 19 other schools from across the country. They include:

    Auburn University
    California State University, Stanislaus
    Georgia Tech
    Oklahoma State University
