Purdue: Redshirted... competed in two events before taking redshirt... won the 184 pound division at the Edinboro open... finished as the runner-up at the Nittany Lion Open... also competed in the 2007 FILA Junior National Championships in Las Vegas, winning the 185-pound freestyle division.
High School: A graduate of South Kitsap High School (Seattle)... compiled a three-year record of 107-3 and pinned 88 opponents... finished second at state as a sophomore (160 pounds) before winning crowns as a junior (171) and senior (189)... went 75-1 in his final two seasons, going 39-0 as a senior with 33 pins... earned Asics All-America honors as a senior... in 2005, won the FILA Cadet Greco-Roman (167.5 pounds) and FILA Cadet Freestyle (187.25 pounds) in the same weekend... also placed third at the 2005 USA Wrestling Junior Freestyle National Championships (171 pounds).
