Seven ASU Women's Basketball Players Named to the Pac-10's All-Academic Team

March 26, 2008

TEMPE, Ariz. - For the second time in as many years the Arizona State women's basketball team finished on top of the Pac-10 in academics as the Sun Devils had seven student-athletes named to the Pac-10's Women's Basketball All-Academic teams, announced by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen on Wednesday.

Included among ASU's seven honorees are two first-team members (junior Kate Engelbrecht and graduate student Jill Noe), one second-team member (senior Reagan Pariseau) and four honorable mentions (juniors Sybil Dosty, Briann January, Danielle Orsillo, and Kirsten Thompson).

To be eligible for selection to the academic team, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade-point average and be either a starter or significant contributor. Last season ASU paced the Pac-10 with a school record eight honorees, including two first-team members (former Sun Devils Aubree Johnson and Emily Westerberg) and one second-team member (Engelbrecht).

It's the third time both Noe and Pariseau have been named to the Pac-10's All-Academic Team after both earned honorable mention honors each of the last two seasons. It's the second time for January, Orsillo and Thompson, who were also named to the honorable mention list last season. It's the first time for Dosty, who just completed her first official season as a member of the Sun Devils.
