The seventh-ranked Arizona State University women's golf team won the PING/ASU Invitational for the first time in six years, earning the tiebreaker over the second-ranked UCLA Bruins in the event, which was held April 1-3 at the par 72, 6,230-yard ASU Karsten Golf Course.

The victory is the third tournament win of the season for the Sun Devils and the first in their own event since 1999. ASU carded an even-par 288 on Sunday for a three-round total of six-over 870 to tie for first with UCLA, but the Sun Devils captured the tournament title by virtue of their fifth individual score (73 for ASU, 80 for UCLA). Pepperdine (888), Arizona (891) and California (894) rounded out the top five teams.

Freshman Louise Stahle won her second tournament title of the year for ASU, finishing with a three-round total of seven-under 209 (70-68-71). Stahle captured the three-stroke victory over UCLA's Amie Cochran (71-71-70=212) and was honored with the Anne Votik Award as the top freshman in the tournament.

Stahle was joined in the top 10 by sophomore Tiffany Tavee who finished sixth with a three-round total of one-over 217 (74-71-72) and senior Erin Tone who placed seventh at two-over 218 (74-72-72). Junior Alissa Kuczka finished in a tie for 34th at 10-over 226 (77-76-73), while sophomore Charmaine Erasmus tied for 46th (78-78-73).

Sun Devil individuals included sophomore Lindsay Anderson (79-74-73) and freshman Brooke Todare (75-75-76) who both tied for 34th at 10-over 226, and senior Nicole Deacon who finished in a tie for 75th (81-80-77=238).

ASU returns to action April 18-20 at the Pac-10 Conference Championship, which will be held at the Ruby Hill Golf Course in Pleasanton, Calif.
