PULLMAN, Wash.--The fourth-ranked Arizona State women's golf team leads the field after the first day of competition at the 2012 Pac-12 Championships at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club, Friday, in Pullman, Wash. The Sun Devils shot a first-round total of 11-over 299 to finish the day in first place, five strokes ahead of second-place UCLA.
ASU was led by senior Giulia Molinaro, who holds the individual lead for the tournament with a 2-over 71 in the first round. Molinaro, ranked second in the nation according to Golfweek, was the only player to shoot under par on Friday. On the day, Molinaro carded three birdies, including back-to-back 1-undrs on holes 10 and 11.
Sophomores Justine Lee and Daniela Ordonez and freshman Noemi Jimenez also paced the Sun Devils, each recording a 4-over 76 in the first round to tie for seventh place. After round one, four out of the five golfers in ASU's line-up are sitting in the top-10.
The second round of the Pac-12 Championships continues tomorrow with Arizona State and UCLA teeing off at 9:50 a.m. PT from the first tee.

The Sun Devils have won the Pac-12 team title a total of eight times, most recently in 2009, for the most conference championships in Pac-12 history. From 1993-96, Arizona State won four consecutive team titles. ASU also holds the record for most Pac-12 individual championships with 11.
