    Sept. 27, 2012

Arizona State's representatives Laura Blanco and Giulia Molinaro teed off their first round of play at the women's World Amateur Golf Championship Thursday in Antalya, Turkey, helping complete the round with their teams in the hunt after day one.

Blanco, making her second straight appearance for Colombia in the World Am, sits tied for 52nd with 12 other golfers after posting a three-over par 75. Her performance helped Colombia tie for 14th after round one at one-over par, four strokes behind the leader.

Molinaro, in her third straight World Am appearance for Italy, shot a five-over par 77 which places her tied for 76th in a very compact field of golfers thus far. Her home country of Italy will go into the second round tied for 28th at seven-over par.

Sweden leads all 53 countries after shooting a combined three-under par, while Latvia sits in second-place at two-under par. Becky Harries of Wales and Daniela Holmqvist of Sweden placed themselves at the top of the leader board after posting rounds of three-under par 69.

Live scoring for the event, which resumes play tomorrow, is made available by Golfstat.
