Led by sophomore Jimin Kang, the Arizona State women's golf team shot a one-under par 287 Sunday to finish in second place at the PING/ASU Invitational, held April 5-7 at Karsten Golf Course on the ASU campus.

The 11th-ranked Sun Devils finished six strokes behind third-ranked Tulsa for the tournament win with a three-day total of 877. Tulsa won the PING/ASU Invitational for the first time since 1985 with a three-round total of seven-over par 871.

Arizona (881) finished third, while UCLA (883) and Cal (890) rounded out the top five in the field, which featured 10 of the top 25 teams in the country. For the Sun Devils, Sunday's finish marked the third straight year that the team has earned runner-up honors at their own tournament.

Kang carded a six-under par 66 on Sunday, the lowest round of the tournament, to climb three spots and finish in second place with a three-day total of 211 (72-73-66). Kang turned in nine birdies, including birdies on six of seven holes at one point, to earn her third top-two finish of the season.

Individually, top-ranked Lorena Ochoa of Arizona captured medalist honors with a three-day total of nine-under 207 to win her NCAA-record seventh straight tournament. Kang finished second, while third-ranked Stacy Prammanasudh of Tulsa finished third with a three-day total of four-under 212.

For the Sun Devils, freshman Erin Tone shared the Anne Votik Outstanding Freshman award with UCLA's Yvonne Choe and matched her highest finish of the year with a tie for 15th at six-over 222 (74-74-74). Junior Melanie Hunt tied for 24th with a three-day total of 224 (75-73-76), while fellow juniors Blair O'Neal (72-83-72=227) and Gaëlle Truet (79-77-75=231) tied for 39th and 53rd, respectively. ASU's individuals, senior Lisa Meredith (80-76-75=231) and freshman Josefin Gustafsson (76-80-76=232) tied for 53rd and 60th, respectively, to round out the ASU lineup.

Arizona State returns to action next week at the Peg Barnard Collegiate, being held April 12-13 at the Stanford Golf Course in Palo Alto, Calif.
