Ciganda Earns Third-Consecutive First Team All-American Honor

    May 24, 2011

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla.—Arizona State women’s golfer Carlota Ciganda was named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-America first team, the NGCA announced.

     Junior Carlota Ciganda

Ciganda’s first-team honor is the junior’s third-consecutive first-team NGCA selection, making her the first Sun Devil since Kellee Booth to earn a first team selection for at least three-straight seasons. Booth was named a first-team All-American for four straight seasons at Arizona State from 1995-98.

The Spanish native cemented her name not only the Arizona State record books, but also the Pac-10 Conference records, by becoming the only back-to-back conference medalist in the history of the Pac-10 Women’s Golf Championships, winning individual medalist honors in 2009 & 2010. Arizona State Hall of Fame inductee and professional golfer Wendy Ward is the only other golfer to win two Pac-10 Championships in 1993 & 1995.

In her career at Arizona State, Ciganda won five individual medalist honors and helped Arizona State win the 2009 Pac-10 Championship and 2009 NCAA Championship. The junior plans to forego her final year of eligibility to pursue a professional golf career.
