TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University head women's soccer coach Kevin Boyd today announced that Liz Schulze will be transferring to ASU to study and play soccer.
Schulze, a 5-10 goalkeeper, will be transferring to ASU after completing her freshman year at Western Illinois University where she started one game during her freshman year in 2011.
"Liz is tall and long and so we get a little more size and a little more height in goal, which is something we were looking for," Boyd said. " We feel like we are getting a player who can contribute to who we are and what we're trying to build and be a good training partner and competitor with our current keeper, Chandler Morris. Both players will make it more of a team position".
Prior to attending Western Illinois, Schulze attended Lincoln High School where she was named to the Wisconsin Valley All-Conference first team her senior season. She was a member of the Wisconsin Rapid Kickers soccer club and also trained at Eric Wiberg's Wisconsin Goalkeeper School.
Schulze becomes the 11th new member of the 2012 Sun Devils. She will join McKenzie Berryhill, Nina Brueggemann, Alina Cheatham, Cali Farquharson, Tommi Goodman, Whitney Kanavel, Lucero Lara, Rachel Ometer, Christina Schedel and Sara Tosti, who signed letters of intent earlier this year.
