2012 Sun Devil Softball Season Preview
The regular season begins this weekend with the Kajikawa Classic.
Junior (2011):
Talor continued to be a huge presence for the Devils, particularly in the outfield with a dominant, accurate arm, with yet another 1.000 fielding percentage with 65 putouts and three assists alongside zero errors. Haro also notched the third-best batting average on the squad with .366, starting in 62 games and appearing in 64. Her speed shone once again as she scored 43 runs for ASU, and her swing was equally as formidable with 60 hits, the third most on the team. Haro stole six bases on the season as well, and drove in 18 RBIs. Her career batting average is now at .346, which places her at 10th overall in the ASU record books. March 9 saw Haro hit her first career home run and her only homer on the season as the Devils faced Florida Gulf Coast. Named NFCA Second Team All-West Region.
Sophomore (2010):
Scoring 19 runs for the Sun Devils, Haro is a eternal threat on the base path with her speed. Her patience at the plate is growing as well, hitting .271 on the season in 96 at-bats. She'll look to fight for the starting left fielder position in the 2011 season. Her work in the classroom didn't go unnoticed as she was given a Pac-10 All-Academic Team Honorable Mention by seasons end.
Freshman (2009):
Haro exploded in the second half of the season for an unheard of .410 average which earned her a starting spot by the WCWS. Once she earned a starting spot, she was hard-pressed to relinquish it as she scored 21 runs off her 25 hits, three of which were doubles for a .459 slugging percentage. Her .448 on-base percentage shows her patience at the plate, but on the base paths she's a menace as well as her speed is one of her huge assets going 4-for-5 in stolen bases and gunning for more this season. Her solid arm may find her a regular in patrolling the outfield, especially as she posted a flawless 1.000 fielding percentage in 2009.
High School:
Another in-state product, Talor joined the Sun Devil outfield after coming off an exciting career at Highland High School in Gilbert, Ariz. A four-time letterwinner, she held a .699 batting average and was named to the First Team All-Region four years in a row. The three-time MVP lead her team as captain and was named to the All-State teams in 2007 and 2008. A performer on and off the field, she was named to the Highland honor roll, and says her most exciting moment in sports was signing on to the Sun Devil squad.
Personal:
The BIS in communication and exercise wellness major was born to Ivan and Vicki Haro of Mesa, Arizona. She has two older sisters Shawny and Shelli, and one younger brother Tanner. Her full name is Talor Rae Haro.
