    TEMPE, Ariz. -
On its way to hosting its third home tournament of the season, Arizona State softball will first play North Dakota at 7 p.m. Thursday. The Wilson/DeMarini Invitational will begin Friday with ASU playing all six of its games this week at Farrington Stadium.

The Sun Devils are on a 16 game win streak to start the season and need just three more consecutive wins to tie the program's best start, 19-0, recorded in 2006. Clint Myers is hunting down a benchmark of his own, his 400th career Division I win. He has 393 entering the weekend and will use each victory earned this weekend to boost him closer to the milestone.

Though last weekend's series had its ups and downs, ASU was able to come up with timely hits to extend their perfect season at 16-0. Highlights from the weekend saw the pitching staff show it isn't a one-name game. Dallas Escobedo pitched a complete 12 inning game and Mackenzie Popescue earned three wins in 8.1 innings pitched. Jenna Makis made her first career start, throwing for two innings against the Vikings. Alexis Cooper also got playing time against PSU making her the fourth Sun Devil to appear over the weekend.

Offensively Arizona State was able to call on its bench for assistance throughout the weekend. In game one of Feb. 23's doubleheader, 22 Sun Devils appeared in the 19-2 (5) mercy rule. Jennifer Soria pinch hit for a walk-off win on Sunday - just one of two freshmen to record a pinch hit gem (Aguirre's grand slam Feb. 16).

ASU has five hitting above .350 in those with at least 20 at-bats. Including the pinch hitters, its 10 hitting above that mark. Elizabeth Caporuscio is tops with a .460 batting average on a team best 23 hits - seven of which are doubles.

In Myers' six years at Arizona State, and at the Division I level, he has recorded a .814 win percentage which now ties him with the winningest active coach leader, Mike Candrea of Arizona. Myers was at .812 last week and is charging forward in the category on a 16-0 start this year. His win-loss percentage since 2006 is third nationally behind Alabama (.852) and Michigan (.824).
