Saturday's Softball Game Rained Out In the Third Inning

    April 11, 2009

TUCSON, Ariz.A cold and rainy night only allowed two-and-a-half innings of play for Game Two of the ‘Duel in the Desert’ which left No. 5 ASU and No. 10 Arizona tied up at two apiece before the game was called. The game will be finished on April 29 when the Wildcats travel to Tempe for a game at 7 p.m.

Longballs kicked off the game for Arizona as Brittany Lastrapes led off the first with a bomb to right field where K’Lee Aredondo followed the act with yet another sky rocket in flight to right to take the 2-0 lead. ASU came to the gun show as well though, unveiling their own in the second inning with a single from Krista Donnenwirth being sent home with a towering shot to left center from freshman Christina Zambrana to tie it up before the rain come down.

The Sun Devils will kick back into home Pac-10 action next weekend as they set to host the Cal Golden Bears and Stanford Cardinal. They will face the Bears Friday, April 17 at 7 p.m. and the Cardinal Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at noon. All games will be held in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
