Johnson and Boyd Named 2012 Softball All-Americans
    Marks Boyd's third-straight honor and Johnson's first

STARKVILLE, Miss. - Katelyn Boyd and Alix Johnson of the Arizona State softball team were named Division I First Team All-Americans as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Wednesday.

Fifty-four student-athletes from 33 different institutions, representing 13 conferences have earned the honor of being named to one of the three 2012 Division I All-American teams, with Katelyn Boyd and Alix Johnson of ASU landing First Team accolades.

With the duo making the team in 2012, ASU has 34 All-Americans in the program's history dating back to 1973, 22 of them with First-Team honors.

Boyd, now a three-time All-American, leads the Sun Devils with a .448 batting average, which ranks fifth nationally, 19 home runs and 61 RBI. In her senior campaign, the Phoenix native was a Top 3 Finalist for National Player of the Year (her second-consecutive year), a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, First Team NFCA All-West Region, First Team Academic All-America selection, Pac-12 First Team All-Conference and Pac-12 Batting Champion. In addition to yearly awards in her trophy case, Boyd was honored with four Pac-12 Player of the Week selections.

Johnson is a threat offensively as well to Sun Devil opponents - the sophomore rings in with 12 homers, 50 RBI and 38 walks thus far. On the year she has picked up accolades such as: First Team NFCA All-West Region and First Team Pac-12 All-Conference.

Arizona State fans can watch Johnson and Boyd along with the rest of the Sun Devils take on Oregon in the opening round of the Women's College World Series starting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. PT/8:30 p.m. CT.
