TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State softball team announced Thursday morning that it will host eight games during the Sun Devils' fall ball schedule.

Each of the eight home games this fall will be played at Farrington Stadium and are free to the public.

Games times and dates are subject to change. Check back on the softball page and thesundevils.com for updated information throughout the fall.

The Sun Devils next and final game of the fall season will take place, Friday, October 26th, against Grand Canyon University. The game will take place at Farrington Stadium with the first pitch scheduled for 6 pm.

GAME SIX AND SEVEN: ASU 11, CAC 2; ASU 10, CAC 0
Friday, October 19th, marked a doubleheader against the Central Arizona College Vaqueros, with the Sun Devils winning both games; 11 – 2 and 10 – 0. Alexis Cooper started the first game of the double header, going five and two-thirds en route to the win, her second of the fall season. Cooper was relieved by Jenna Makis who finished out the night while punching out two batters. Makis stayed in the circle for the start of game two, going four more innings and k-ing four other batters on the night. Dallas Escobedo finished out the game, going the final three innings and striking out four of the final seven Vaqueros she faced.

GAME FIVE: ASU 14, Phoenix College 2
On Tuesday, October 16th, the Sun Devils took on the Phoenix College Bears, trouncing the Bears 14 to 2. As a team, the Sun Devils provided some spark, hitting five homeruns, with Haley Steele delivering a two-run shot in the first inning and Amber Freeman, Elizabeth Caporuscio and Sam Parlich going back-to-back-to-back in the third inning. The night also saw infielder Lindsey Edgerton go deep, her first of the fall season.

Mackenzie Popescue started once more for the Devils, her third start of the fall season, pitching three innings, punching out three batters. Popescue was then followed by Jenna Makis - who earned her third win of the fall season - and Alexis Cooper, who each pitched in relief and looked sharp during their time in the circle. Dallas Escobedo finished out the game, k-ing her two final batters.

GAME FOUR: ASU 6, Yavapai Jr. College 0
On Saturday, October 13th, the Sun Devils outlasted the Yavapai Roughriders, winning six to nothing during the contest, which was the fourth game of the eight game fall season. Mackenzie Popescue got the start for the Sun Devils, her second of the fall season, going three quick innings while recording one strikeout during her outing. Popescue was then followed by Alexis Cooper and then Jenna Makis who, together, recorded a total of three strikeouts during their time in the circle. The game concluded with Dallas Escobedo going the final two innings and fanning three of the final six batters she faced.

GAME THREE: ASU 24, South Mountain Community College 0
The Arizona State bats busted out in a big way on Tuesday, October 9th, blanking South Mountain Community College 24 - 0. Dallas Escobedo started for the Devils, going the first three innings and fanning eight Cougar batters on the night. Jenna Makis came on in relief of Escobedo, going two quick innings en route to her first win during the fall season. Alexis Cooper came on next, fanning another four batters during her time in the circle, and Mackenzie Popescue closed out the game, striking out the final four batters she faced. As a staff, the Devils struck out a total of twenty batters during the contest, an overall pitching performance that head coach Clint Myers was pleased with after the game.

Shortstop Cheyenne Coyle was again instrumental in a Sun Devil win, going two for three at the plate with two RBI on the night. The Artichokes hung around until the fifth inning when the Devils came alive in the middle of the order. Sam Parlich kicked off the inning with a walk and later scored on consecutive hits from Coyle and Amber Freeman, pinch runner Kayla Ketchum was later brought in to score on a hit by Haley Steele.

Head coach Clint Myers was quoted after the game, saying: "We're young, but we just need to play with better understanding and knowledge of the game." The Sun Devils' fall roster features ten freshmen versus only four seniors.

GAME ONE: ASU 11, Eastern Arizona College 0
Arizona State Softball kicked off their fall season with a win over Eastern Arizona College on Saturday September 29, beating the Lady Gila Monsters 11 - 0. Mackenzie Popescue started and got the win for the Devils, pitching three innings and recording one strikeout in the outing. The game saw all four pitchers on staff pitch, recording a total of six strikeouts and shutting out the Lady Gila Monsters on the day.

Florida transfer Cheyenne Coyle started at shortstop for the Devils and was 2 for 2 on the day with four runs scored and a double. Dallas Escobedo looked sharp in her fall debut, pitching two innings and fanning four batters. Freshman Nikki Girard singled twice in her Sun Devil debut and Amber Freeman doubled to right field during the game.

The game was a step in the right direction to start off the season for a coaching staff that has been preaching: "two more days" all offseason. Last season the Sun Devils fell just two days and two games short of reaching the World Series Championship Game and repeating as National Champions.
