    Sun Devil's Win Four of Five at Second Day of Southwest ITA Regional

    SAN DIEGO, Calif. -

    The Arizona State Sun Devils women's tennis team competed in the second day of the USTA/ITA Southwest Regional Tournament hosted by San Diego State University, winning four out of the five matches competed in that day.

    "I was very happy with today as we won four of the five matches we competed in," head coach Sheila McInerney said.

    In the main draw on the doubles courts, Leighann Sahagun and Stephanie Vlad defeated Priscilla Garcia and April Scatliffe of UCSB 8-3 to advance into the round of 16.

    On the singles courts, freshman Stephanie Vlad fell to the top seeded Robin Anderson of UCLA in two sets, 6-3, 6-2

    In the consilation bracket on the singles courts, Joanna Smith won two matches in a row, defeating Erica Cano 6-1, 6-1, Nakisa Vadhat 5-7, 7-5, 10-5. 

    The Sun Devils will continue play on Saturday morning with matches kicking off at 8:30 a.m. PT.
