    Women's Tennis Off to Vegas for Freeman Memorial

    The Arizona State University women's tennis team will open the spring season at the Freeman Memorial Tournament hosted by UNLV in Las Vegas. The tournament begins Friday and will conclude Sunday. Head coach Sheila McInerney is taking seven athletes along with her, including Kelcy McKenna, Micaela Hein, Sianna Simmons, Hannah James, Nadia Abdala, Ashlee Brown and Amanda Martin.

    Scouting the Competition at the Freeman
    The Freeman Memorial headlines several of the nation's top schools including No. 8 Florida, No. 9 USC, No. 12 UCLA, No. 13 Stanford, No. 18 North Carolina, No. 30 ASU, No. 41 UNLV and No. 71 Oregon. Several players in the top 100 will be challenging for wins this weekend including No. 16 Mallory Burdette (Stanford), No. 25 Sanaz Marand (UNC), No. 37 Valeria Pulido (USC), No. 44 Jana Albers (UNLV), No. 50 Kristina Nedeltcheva (UNLV), No. 58 Kelcy McKenna (ASU), No. 7 Micaela Hein (ASU), No. 78 Carolyn McVeigh (Stanford), No. 81 Marrit Boonstra (UF), No. 92 Anastasia Revzina (UF) and No. 100 Katrina Tsang (UNC)

    In the Rankings
    The Sun Devils are currently ranked 30th as a team by the ITA. Kelcy McKenna is ranked 58th in singles while Micaela Hein is 68th. In doubles, Hein and Ashlee Brown are No. 38.

     

     

    Who's the New Kid?
    Hannah James has joined the Sun Devils this semester. Hailing from Birmingham, Great Britain, she brings a handful of international experience. She has been ranked as high as 36th and has represented her home country in several tournaments. This past summer she played in the Wimbledon Junior.

    Up Next
    The Sun Devils head back to Tempe to open the dual season. The team will host UCSB on Friday, January 22nd at 1:30 and UC Davis the following day at noon.
