BOULDER, Colo. -
The No. 27 Arizona State Sun Devils women's tennis team will open Pac-12 play on the road this weekend, traveling to both Colorado and Utah this weekend. The Sun Devils are currently riding a seven-game match streak since falling to the University of Miami in January.
With the Buffs slated for the match of the weekend on Friday at 11 a.m., Arizona State enters Boulder looking as good as ever touting an impressive 10-1 record. Friday's match marks the first official Pac-12 competition of the 2013 spring season -- last year ASU opened Pac-12 play with Washington State, a match they lost 5-2.
ASU Head Coach Sheila McInerney has previously recognized the importance of conference play, and more important the tough matches that come along with it.
Colorado welcomes Arizona State standing at 5-5 overall, with their most recent effort on the courts falling short in a loss to No. 73 Princeton.
As of the most recent ITA rankings, the Sun Devils hold three player rankings -- the highest of those three bing 40th-ranked doubles pairing of seniors Jacqueline Cako and Nicole Smith. In singles, Jacqueline Cako currently holds the No. 88 spot, while freshman Desirae Krawczyk rounds out at No. 111.
After taking the day to travel on Satuday, ASU will face the Utes of Utah on Sunday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah. Utah is currently ranked No. 74 overall, and will be fresh off of competition on Friday afternoon as well when they host the University of Arizona on their home courts.
