TEMPE, ARIZ. -
The Arizona State Sun Devils women's tennis team will travel to Berkeley, Calif. to participate in the Cal Nike Invitational hosted by the University of California - Berkeley. This is the second pre-season tournament for the Sun Devil squad, a team that is looking to learn from mistakes that occurred at the Wolverine Invitational last weekend.
"We will take a lot away from this tournament (Wolverine Invitational) and we hope to build on those skills moving forward," ASU head coach Sheila McInerney said.
The tournament will include 13-teams and 80-plus players from Cal, Fresno State, Pacific, UC Davis, BYU, Nevada, Santa Clara, Minnesota, Saint Mary's, San Jose State, Sacramento Sate and San Francisco. There will be three singles flights and three doubles flights.
Multiple players that are ranked in the ITA rankings will be on the courts, ready to play in both singles and doubles. Sun Devil junior Jacqueline Cako is ranked #13 in the pre-season polls but will not be competing this weekend in Berkeley.
Tournament play will start Friday afternoon at the Hellman Tennis Complex and will run through Sunday afternoon.
