Cako to Represent U.S. at 2011 Master'U BNP Paribas in France

    Nov. 17, 2011

TEMPE, Ariz.—Arizona State sophomore Jacqueline Cako has been selected by the USTA to represent the United States at the 2011 Master’U BNP Paribas, an international collegiate team competition held in Rouen, France from Dec. 8-11.

Cako joins Beatrice Capra of Duke and Lauren Embree of Florida on the United States women’s team, while Jarmere Jenkins of Virginia, Daniel Nguyen of USC and Wil Spencer of Georgia will represent the U.S. men’s team.

The teams will compete in a best-of-seven format consisting of two men’s and two women’s singles matches, one men’s and one women’s doubles match, and one mixed doubles match.  The United States, which has reached the competition finals for the last two seasons, will compete against countries from Belgium, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, Ireland and Spain.

Cako is coming off a strong fall campaign, which saw the sophomore compete in the ITA All-American Championship finals. Despite finishing as runner-up, Cako notched four victories on the weekend, including a win over reigning NCAA singles champion and No. 1-ranked Jana Juricova of California in the tournament quarterfinals.
