Volleyball Opens 2011 Season with Sheraton Classic This Weekend
The Sun Devils look to matches against Denver, UW-Milwaukee, and San Jose State to kick off the season.
2011 (Sophomore):
Had second-best block per set average with 1.02, recording 52 total blocks on three solo and 49 assists...Tied career-best of 11 kills on Sept. 16 against Oregon State, where she also had her career-best 11 block assists, which ties for the second-best block assists in program history...Hit third-best hitting percentage on the team with .243, on 72 kills from the year...Was given Honorable Mention accolades on the Pac-12 All-Academic Team.
2010 (Freshman):
Continued to improve throughout the season, posting 59 kills and 33 blocks...had a huge effort Oct. 31 vs. UC Riverside, tallying 11 kills to help the Sun Devils complete the sweep.
2009 (Freshman-Redshirt):
A walk-on, Pinson saw limited time on the floor during the season, but improved vastly both throughout the season and in the off-season to look to vie for time at middle blocker in the 2010 season.
High School:
A 2009 graduate of Xavier College Prepatory in Phoenix, Ariz where she earned two varsity volleyball letters... in 2007 Alexis was named PrepVolleyball.com Most Improved 3rd Team, Xavier Most Improved Player, All Region Honorable Mention, All State Honorable Mention as well as being a member of the Desert Valley Region Champions and 5A-1 State Champion squads... 2008 saw Pinson named AZ United Dairyman's 1st team All- American, All Region 1st team, All State Honorable Mention, Westwood Tournament All-Tournament team, Team Captain and Xavier Outstanding Senior Athlete as well as being a member of the Westwood Tournament Champion, Goldwater Invitational Champion, Desert Valley Region Champion and 5A-1 State Champion teams...in addition to playing for Xavier, Pinson also was a member of the Arizona Volleyball Academy...lists winning back-to-back state championships as her most exciting moment in sports.

A business communications major focused in communications....full name is Alexis Noele Pinson...parents are Ernie (firefighter) and Denise (Flight Attendant) Pinson of Phoenix, Ariz....born December 5, 1990 in Phoenix, Ariz....also, participates in a summer bowling league.
