TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State volleyball is back on the road after a two-match home stand last weekend. The Sun Devils (14-9, 3-7 Pac-12) will face No. 2 Stanford (19-2, 11-0 Pac-12) and California (10-10, 4-6 Pac-12) over the weekend in the second half of Pac-12 Conference play.

Just finishing the first half of the Pac-12 slate, the Sun Devils have five road matches and five home contests remaining on the regular season schedule. Of the remaining opponents, five rank in this week's Top 10 of the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll (No. 2 Stanford, No. 3 Oregon, No. 5 Washington, No. 6 UCLA, No. 7 USC).
Junior libero Stephanie Preach continues to move up in the career digs records at ASU. With 1,240 to her name she currently ranks eighth. Preach needs just 13 to move into seventh and 44 to tie for sixth.

Stanford grabbed the first victory of this year's series, with ASU falling 3-1 on Sept. 30 in Tempe. The Cardinal lead 61-4 dating back to 1979. ASU has only won this match in Stanford once, Oct. 23, 1982. The last time ASU beat Stanford was Sept. 30, 2000 at home 3-1.
About the California Series
ASU picked up a 3-0 win in the last meeting with the Golden Bears in Tempe on Sept. 28. The last time the Sun Devils took a win in Berkeley was Nov. 24, 2010 with a five-set victory to then-ranked No. 2 Cal.

No. 7 Stanford Tops ASU Volleyball, 3-1 Arizona State University volleyball fell 3-1 to No. 7 Stanford on Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena in front of a season-high home attendance of 1,583. The Sun Devils dropped the match in set scores of 27-29, 17-25, 28-26, 23-25. |
