TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State University officially begins its inaugural season of women's water polo this Saturday, February 9, with a pair of games at Mona Plummer Aquatic Center in Tempe, Ariz.
Both contests are against Santa Clara University, which is expected to give ASU some of its toughest competition of the season. Game 1 is at 10:00 a.m., with Game 2 starting at 3:00 p.m. Between games the women's water polo team will be holding a free clinic for boys and girls ages 10-18 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. While appropriate swimming skills are mandatory, no prior water polo experience is necessary.
The Sun Devils are coached by Vicki Gorman, who arrived at ASU after four years as head coach at the University of the Pacific (Stockton, Calif.). Gorman is assisted by ASU graduate Rodd Parker, who most recently coached at Vintage High (Napa, Calif.) and the University of California at Davis.
Water Polo fans stay tuned to this website. Throughout the week, the ASU women's water polo page will be updated with a season preview, player bios and photos and other news on the first season of Sun Devil water polo.
