TEMPE – The #5 Arizona State University water polo team will wrap up the 2012 regular season at home on Saturday, April 14 as the squad hosts a pair of games against #16 Hawai’i and #17 Cal Baptist at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center.

The Sun Devils will open up the day against the Rainbow Wahine at 11 a.m. PT and will honor the outgoing seniors playing in their final home matches in Tempe.  Hawai’i and Cal Baptist will then take each other on at 2:30 p.m. before the ASU returns to the pool in the nightcap against Cal Baptist at 6 p.m.

Arizona State enters the weekend with a 21-5 record overall and is 3-3 in MPSF play, good for fifth-place in the conference.   The team has already matched the school record for victories and a victory in either of tomorrow’s games will give the 2012 team sole possession of the school record.

In addition, the Sun Devils have netted more goals this season than any other team in school history even with a couple more games to play, outscoring its opponents in 2012 by a combined 322 goals to 171.

The Sun Devils will be looking to send their three seniors out on top in Mariam Salloum, Annabelle Carter and Kelsey White.  More details on the careers of each member of the trio can be found below.

After tomorrow’s games, the Sun Devils will set their sights on the MPSF Championships set to take place in Palo Alto, Calif., beginning Friday, April 27.  There, the Sun Devils will contend for their first ever NCAA Championship berth.

    ASU SENIORS

Kelsey White - A senior out of Ranburg, South Africa, Kelsey White has established herself as one of the team leaders over the past four years at Arizona State.  White currently finds herself tenth all-time in career points with 140 on 85 goals and 55 assists.  Her 55 assists sit eighth in the career record books.   White posted a career high 46 points with 29 goals and 17 assists as a junior in 2011 and added 30 steals in the process.   As a captain in 2012, White has notched 28 goals and 22 assists for 50 points, a single season career high with several games yet to play.  Has seen her fair share of experience for the South African national team as a starter and competed for the team at the FINA World Championships last summer.

Annabelle CarterAnnabelle Carter, a senior out of Sydney, Australia, has only had three years to leave her mark for the Sun Devils but she wasted no time doing such.  Despite only joining the Sun Devils in the 2010 season, Carter has climbed the ranks in several of the career statistics and currently finds herself eighth in goals scored (94), seventh in assists (66) and seventh in total points with 170.  As a senior this year, Carter has demolished her previous career best in points with 70 thus far on 38 goals and 32 assists. Carter has been a solid and consistent contributor throughout her time as a Sun Devil with 43 points as a sophomore and 47 as a junior, with 28 goals in each season, before her offensive outburst in 2012.

Mariam Salloum Mariam Salloum will finish her career as one of just three Sun Devils to have top-10 marks in school history in every major statistical category.  Entering this weekend, Salloum ranks fourth in goals score (130), third in assists (102), fourth in points (232) and seventh in steals (108).  Only Sun Devils greats Addison McGrath and Ashley Bower can also lay claim to such a feat.  As a senior, Salloum has netted a career-high 43 goals in 2012 as well as a career-high 70 points.  While not competing for the Sun Devils, Salloum has earned a starting spot on the German nation team, collecting a 10th-place finish at the 2009 FINA World Championships and competing the European Championships in 2010 in addition to several World League matches the same year.
